The design of the Flying Eagle Cent made production of the coin difficult, and in 1859 the Indian Head Cent was introduced. A copper-nickel mixture was used until 1864 when a change was made to copper-zinc (bronze). Indian Head Cents were produced until 1909 when the now-iconic Lincoln Cent replaced it. NOTE: We typically only stock Indian Head Cents 1879-1909. Indian Head Cents produced from 1859-1878 will appear in our Specials, when available.
