As demand for Mint products continued to grow, issuance of special Uncirculated Mint sets began in 1947. Showcasing one of each of the coins produced for a given year, they gave collectors a chance to obtain coins they may not otherwise be able to find in circulation. From 2005 to 2010, coins included in these sets were minted with a special satin finish.
