Walking Liberty (1916-1947)

The Walking Liberty Half Dollar, which debuted in 1916, was a bold step in coin design. Initially, it was among the first coins to display mint marks on the obverse, but these were moved to the reverse after just one year. Known for its weak strikes, the coin's design nonetheless gained popularity and was later used on other coins, including the American Silver Eagle.
